Are we Better off Without Lakewood’s Industrial Commission?

The formation of a industrial commission has been a long standing practice for states, cities and towns across the nation. The general purpose in the structuring of a commission is to secure the interests of its governing body.

Lakewood’s industrial commission is no different its creation was to solidify the growth in the industrial area. The township of Lakewood, funds the grossly large budget of this commission to ensure the success of its industrial zone. The bulk of Lakewood’s tax ratables come from businesses in that zone.

Nonetheless the Lakewood industrial commission (LIC) Under the leadership of Mr. Steven Reinman has allowed the towns most substantial resource to deteriorate. This has been done by way of encouraging tax exempt schools to enter its industrial zone. This causes significant loss of revenue from these properties, and creates an uninviting atmosphere for new income producing enterprises.

It is evident that the LIC has neglected its duties and has put the town of Lakewood in jeopardy of severe financial distress. It has come time to restructure or dismantle this commission.

Anybody remember when Reinman was out of a job a few years ago. He was always a nice guy. Sweet, meek with a shy smile. But menace a lo yutzlach. 1 brother was a Talmud chochom and mechaner seforim. Another brother a wealthy guy, a shaine mishpocheh with a nice house and a Lexus. And poor old Steve was out of a job for quite a few years. All of a sudden we turn around and he’s got a job, some groise machet redesigning Lakewood! The oilum was like, wha? How does this guy know anything about anything?
I guess he was, and still is the perfect puppet.

You should try to at least publish some facts straight. The LIC maybe corrupt and is definitely wasteful, but it was the Lakewood Township that made the zoning changes to allow schools in the Industrial Park, put the blame where it belongs

      mind boggling

Why are there non local residents sitting on the commission spending local tax dollars

The blue claws rent money goes to the LIC and dose not even cover the directors salary.

A $2000 monthly marketing budget? ? For who? For schools?

Why was the Strand theater transferred to the LIC? Is it for sale? Who will profit off it?

Is there a conflict of interest

Why does revenue from any some businesses go to the LIC bank account budget and not back to the township tax rolls.
