A new Yeshiva for OTD bochrim is coming to the Etz Chaim Chestnut Shul for the upcoming zman. The Rabbi of this shul is Rabbi Sender Kasczirer, Rosh Yeshiva of Mesivta of Eatontown. The new Yeshiva will focus on keeping these boys within the parameters of Jewish culture and Jewish ambiance. Both the shul and the Yeshiva will have a great השפעה one on the other.
The Eitz Chaim Shul is a break off from main Chestnut shul by individuals who wanted more religious “freedom”. They have twice a year a party for married women to dress up and show off (Simchas Torah, Chanuka). The shul has a “family” whats app chat for the women and men to further connect. It is well known that the mechitza (shower curtain) is moved back and forth during davening so those who prefer not to pray have what to distract themselves with. Sadly, a decline is clearly seen in the young impressionable boys from the time that the fathers started davening in this shul. Barchu is at 9:50, there is a Kiddush with schnapps before Laining in the main Sanctuary, and a lavish Kiddush (with continued drinking) after davening (at 11). The famous incident of cholent throwing must be mentioned. One angry individual (S.G.) threw a hot pan of cholent upon a innocent individual and the hurt individual had to be taken to the hospital on Shabbos for severe burns and a broken finger. This sounds unbelievable but other fraylichen incidents such as this frequent those lucky to attend this shul’s services.
Both the shul and the Yeshiva will have a great impact on each other. For registration for the upcoming zman kindly contact Rabbi Sender Kasczirer.
